What is Platea?

Platea is a social app for meeting people through shared activities, starting in Santa Barbara. The app is in beta; this waiting room is where you can save your place and hear about the wider launch.

What happens after I join?

Your place is confirmed here on the website. You can manage your signup and invite friends right away. Save your private signup link to return from another device. We’ll use your email for future launch updates.

Can I try the app now?

Yes, you can explore the current beta. Sign-in is currently through ChatGPT, and a sample preview lets you look around. Your waiting-room signup is separate from your app account.

When and where are you launching?

Our first focus is Santa Barbara, Goleta, and UCSB. A wider launch date hasn’t been announced. The waiting room helps us learn what people want to do together.

Is the waiting room free?

Yes. Joining the waitlist is free. It doesn’t book an event or start a paid subscription.

Will my details be public?

Your signup starts private. You can choose to share your first name, character, and interests. Your email and phone number are never displayed in the community.

What is Platea Professional?

It’s the professional side of Platea, being shaped with local places, instructors, and organizers. Learn about the idea and talk to the team.

Free to join. Private by default.

Privacy & your information

Platea stores your first name, email, phone number, one to six interests, and chosen avatar to keep your place on the waitlist and contact you about launch. Your email and text preferences, their version, and the time you set them are saved. You can turn either channel off in “Manage my signup.” Existing members are not automatically opted in. No confirmation email or text message is sent automatically. For signup questions, contact info@platea-social.com. Joining is not an app account or an event booking.

Your profile is private unless you choose to show it. Public profiles show only your name, avatar, and interests; they are submitted by visitors and are not verified identities. Your email and phone number are never included in the public community list. The total waitlist count includes private signups.

A secure browser cookie lets you manage your signup for up to one year. Save your private management link if you want access from another device. You can hide your profile or delete your signup through “Manage my signup.” A short-lived, hashed network identifier is used to limit automated signups. If you join through an invite, we also save the referral and your early-member voucher. The inviter sees a joined-friend count, not your contact details. Deleting your signup removes your voucher and invite link.
